Associate Reflection | The Mission Alive in Our Work
By Molly Wilhite
Our Mission
Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we commit ourselves to serving all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually centered, holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. We are advocates for a compassionate and just society through our actions and our words.
Working at The Resource Group has kept the mission and vision alive that my job makes a difference. The Bible refers to a job as a "calling" or "ministry". It is so easy to lose sight of this and to view a job as something that brings in a paycheck. But, at The Resource Group, I feel motivated and inspired from all the ways we are encouraged to serve our communities. From starting meetings off with reflections to encouraging associates to get involved with volunteering opportunities, it is so special to work in a setting that promotes internal growth in an associate.
My boss, Stephen Flatt, is always asking how we are doing and integrates our values into our work. I have shared with him my professional goals and he has connected me with leaders, resources, and assigned me projects to help reach those goals. I have really enjoyed playing a part in the Medical Mission at Home, where we provide free healthcare and other resources (groceries, career advice, mental healthcare, haircuts, spiritual care, etc) to anyone that comes. We spend a lot of time and care to ensure the event goes smoothly. Our team is also incredibly intentional about time with one another and supporting each other. This intentional time helps us live out the mission to serve others with compassion.
The culture here is about seeing the bigger picture, caring about life outside of work, and finding ways to invest in values at work. I enjoy working for a company that recognizes Jesus, puts patients and others first, and cares.
